Which BlackBerry is yours?

Based on my previous posting about Telkomsel Blackberry Internet Service - Postpaid, there is a question from my reader about a difficulty on having BIS to be activated. The reason is because he/she bought a second hand handset (I'm sure it's a black market market) and the previous owner has not release the user account (or maybe PIN, i dont know, i'm not a BB user) yet. So the new handset owner cannot activate BIS.

As far as I know, RIM is working exclusively only with telco operator (either GSM or CDMA) for selling their product (BIS, BES, BB handsets). CMIIW, RIM does not sell the handset directly to retail market. So, any handset sold in the market which doesn't come from operator (or operator's authorized reseller) I assume as black market handset.

I've googled to find some articles about it because in Indonesia most BB sold in the market in my opinion is black market one. The benefit on buying black market product is giving you cheaper price. Sometimes the price differebce is quite significant. The other side, you cant do anything if something went wrong with it. You only got personal warranty by the seller, if you're lucky to get good seller.

Google Maps Mobile on Nokia E71 #2

Nah kalau sebelumnya saya udah nulis tentang cara instalasi dan penggunaan Google Maps for Mobile, sekara lebih ke arah Google Latitude nya. Postingan ini akan dikit mengulas cara-nya add friends dan kemudian mengetahui posisi dimana teman kamu itu berada. Cukup mengejutkan :P

List ponsel Symbian Series 60 3rd edition dapat dilihat di sini. Selebihnya silakan googling yah.

1. Masuk ke menu, defautnya semua aplikasi yang kita install sendiri (bukan bawaan E71) akan berada di folder installation.

2. Nah tuh ketemu deh GMM nya di folder installation. Tinggal jalanin ajah.

Google Maps Mobile on Nokia E71

Google Maps for Mobile (GMM) seperti namanya adalah versi mobile dari aplikasi Google Maps. Saat ini GMM mendukung platform ponsel Android, Windows Mobile, Palm dan Symbian Series 60 3rd edition. Versi terakhir dari GMM ini telah menyertakan sebuah fitur baru yang dapat membuat pemakainya dapat berbagi informasi di mana posisi dia berada dan di mana posisi teman-temannya berada pula saat itu. Dan ini diklaim oleh Google dilakukan secara real time. Fitur ini dinamakan Google Latitude (bukan salah satu seri laptop Dell yah). Wow.
Google Latitude ini adalah langkah awal Google untuk menambahkan fungsi layanan berbasis jejaring sosial (social network) pada aplikasi Google Maps itu sendiri dan aplikasi Google lainnya.

Nah, postingan saya ini berupa tutorial sederhana tentang cara instalasi di Nokia E71. Tapi sebenarnya tutorial ini dapat dipakai untuk instalasi di Nokia/ponsel lain yang berbasis Symbian Series 60 3rd

1. Buka browser E71 kamu (pake browser lain seperti Opera Mini juga bisa sih). Buka situs http://www.google.com/gmm seperti gambar di bawah ini.
